Ivory Intermediate Weekly Updates
February 10, 2025
CFSD students
Message from Mrs. Bever:
Happy February!
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Your participation in various activities and events makes a significant difference in our students' educational experience. Together, we can help nurture a love of learning and foster a positive school environment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on February 7 for our Second Annual Super Bowl Breakfast! I loved seeing so many of you enjoying food and fellowship with our students and each other. And the Ivory Intermediate Steppers did an amazing job with their performance - shoutout to Mrs. VanHook, Mr. Launius, and every Stepper!

Join me as we welcome Mrs. Nikki Natt as our new assistant principal.  Mrs. Natt has 13 years of experience as an educator, including serving one year as a CFMS Assistant Principal and three years as a CFHS Assistant Principal. I know she will be an amazing addition to the Ivory Intermediate family!

This month, we are excited to celebrate Kindness Week, which will take place from February 10-14. We encourage all students to engage in acts of kindness and participate in our special activities designed to promote compassion and friendship.

In addition, we will hold our Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 18 and 20. Please save the date, and be sure to sign up for a time slot.

As we approach Valentine's Day, we will have fun classroom celebrations on February 14! These gatherings will focus on sharing kindness and gratitude.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone of our ongoing commitment to safety in our school. We continue to follow health guidelines to ensure that all students and staff have a safe learning environment. Please help us keep germs from spreading to students and staff by making sure your child stays home when they're sick.

Thank you again for all you do to support your child's educational journey at Ivory Intermediate, where #LearningIsRequired!

Best,

Mrs. Bever

Attendance Matters!
Let's Show Up Together This School Year.
#ShowingUpTogether Attendance Awards
Week of February 3:
4th Grade: Ms. King
5th Grade: Mrs. VanHook

Why is regular attendance important? Because every second counts! 90% attendance may sound good; however, it is the equivalent of missing half a day of school each week.

At Camden Fairview, we believe that #AttendanceMatters and that absences are lost opportunities to learn in the classroom. Some absences are unavoidable, but it’s important that students are at school from bell-to-bell as often as possible.

Beginning in kindergarten, regular attendance is often an indicator of higher academic performance. Students who are at #SchoolEveryDay also do better academically in middle school and are more likely to graduate high school.
Reminders:

As we begin our second semester of this school year, I want to encourage students to read more! Reading is like basketball or football: you have to practice to be good at it. Encourage your child to read their library books, books they have at home, or even stories or books online.

Reading opens the door to all other subjects, from math to medicine! Have a great month!

George Ivory
Happy Black History Month!
We’re celebrating Black History Month by highlighting African-Americans at the local, state, and national levels who have blazed trails, widened paths, and inspired the next generation.

George S. Ivory, Sr. (1910-1998) was an educator who devoted forty years to public education in Arkansas. He was the Lincoln High School principal for nine years and the Camden Junior High Principal for five years. Ivory Intermediate School, formerly known as Ivory Primary School, was named in honor of Mr. Ivory and his positive impact on Camden’s students. Today, the educators at Ivory Intermediate remain committed to carrying out his educational philosophy: “There isn’t a child that can’t be reached. Children need love and understanding.”

Carter G. Woodson is known as the Father of Black History Month. He was a scholar whose dedication to celebrating the historical contributions of Black people led to the establishment of Black History Month, marked every February since 1976. Learn more: https://guides.loc.gov/black-history-month-legal-resources/history-and-overview

Download the House Points app today to track your child's achievements!
This year, we are excited to award students individual points in addition to House Points! The House Points system engages our students and encourages active participation in our school and our community. You can see your child's achievements in the app, and we are keeping an eye on the leaderboard in the cafeteria!

We recently sent home information in weekly folders on creating your app account, including our school code and your child's individual code. Check out an overview here!

Attendance Matters!
Let's Show Up Together This School Year.
#ShowingUpTogether Attendance Awards
Week of January 13:
4th Grade: Mrs. Ellis
5th Grade: Mrs. VanHook and Mrs. Gilbert
